After extensive speculation, it has been confirmed that James Sinclair, owner of DampWise Medway, has acquired an 80% majority stake in Rochester Building and Damp.
Martin Sykes and Emma Page will continue to be based in Margate, managing the ongoing contract with Thanet Council. While they each retain a 10% shareholder stake, responsibility for overseeing damp proofing operations in Medway and the surrounding areas will now transfer to James Sinclair. This marks the conclusion of a prolonged period of uncertainty regarding the ownership of Rochester Building and Damp.
Martin will continue managing the Rochester Building and Damp website and overseeing media promotion.
Emma will maintain her administrative responsibilities from the company’s Thanet premises.
Although Martin had contemplated retirement, he has now decided to postpone it until 2030.
The beginning of 2025 has been highly successful for Rochester Building and Damp, with survey numbers rising by 46% throughout January and February.
With James Sinclair now playing a far more prominent role in the company, Rochester Building and Damp is set to maintain its position as the leading independent timber and damp specialist in the South East.
